Dr. Hicks Played Huge Role in Son’s Recovery – November 2011

Please feel free to use the letter and my name. Dr. Hicks has played a huge role in Kyle’s recovery, and we will be forever grateful. As I routinely tell other parents I come in contact with, I highly recommend Dr. Hicks to those seeking medical help for their children on the spectrum. Debbie Ford

Dr. Hicks and his staff changed our lives – August 2011

Dr. Hicks and his staff changed our lives:

Dr. Hicks has been my doctor for over 8 years now. His methods are unlike any I’ve ever seen. HE GETS IT. He understands how the body works and how one symptom can be caused by a “malfunction” of a different organ. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I weighed less than 100 pounds and couldn’t gain weight. Through major dietary changes and supplements, I have been pain free and back to my normal weight for over 8 years. My daughters who were showing signs of major behavior issues are now “normal.” Their immune systems are stronger and they don’t get sick like so many of their friends. Dr. Hicks’ methods are by no means easy. It is a lifestyle change, but I just can’t imagine where we would be without those changes and his direction. We love you Dr. Hick and Elementals Living Staff.

Great Ideas for Picky Eater – July 2011

Dear Betsy,
I am from Monterrey, Mexico and I am a mother of a 3 year old picky eater toddler boy and a one year old baby girl starting to be picky. I bought your book through amazon.com and I m happily reading it (about page 131). I must say I love all your great ideas and you have helped me understand better my picky eating toddler as he doesn’t eat any vegetables at all and only bananas sometimes. I guess he is just like your son Joey used to be (he loves crunchy and smooth) but he wont eat ANYTHING NEW and he’s diet consist of:
mashed black beans in a tortilla, quesadillas, white rice, luckily scrambled organic eggs with beans and in a sandwich and sometimes breaded, thin and fried chicken, beef or fish, he loves cashews and pistachios and nature valley oats n honey granola (which I had to take away because sometimes he just ate that and nothing else). Only water and morning and night about 4oz almond breeze milk.
I wanted to make the baked crunchy kale recipe but here in Mexico its hard to get Kale at the supermarket so today I am trying to make spinach tempura and see if he likes it. Thanks to your ideas, I’m also going to make amaranth tortilla chips and see if he eats it that way being crunchy. I also want to make vegetable crackers for him; I really think this is a great idea for him to get some veggies in his diet. I haven’t found a good recipe on the internet so I would really appreciate if you could be so kind to send me your vegetable crackers recipe you used for four years. I am so desperate and sometimes get very sad or disappointed when trying new foods I think he will like but he doesn’t, I really think that he might accept the vegetable crackers because of their texture. Thank you for your book, for your help and for all the wonderful advice.

Ready for Rutabaga – July 2011

Hello Betsy:

Thanks so much for your extremely motivating presentation last at our Holistic Moms Network meeting. I’m the one who was sitting to your right, the chef. Had a “breakthrough” today with rutabaga and my 2-year old. I did like you said and took some new foods as snacks to an
outdoor performance. She’s on the fence sometimes about hard-boiled eggs, but did well with one today. I steamed some rutabaga chunks this morning then tossed them with butter and salt. She didn’t go for them on the road as I’d hoped, but once we got home she ate a lot of them in the way of rutabaga/red lentil stew (with carrots, red peppers, garnished with some whole milk plain yogurt) I think what helped was that she wanted to eat what mommy was eating–as often happens and then there’s nothing left on our plates. I know that’s not a good habit to get into either b/c she needs to sit in her own seat with her own place setting, etc., which she usually does. But in this case it got her to eat several forkfuls of rutabaga and she decidedly likes it. Hurray!

Thanks again,
Annie

Supplements and Good Cooking – January 2011

Dear Amy,

I wanted to let you and Dr. Hicks know that Sam is doing great!
I just keep ordering supplements and never take the time to thank anyone
or say that he has come a long way in his healing thanks to everything
Dr. Hicks has taught us in the few times that we have spoken. It’s NOT easy
with all the cooking and label reading etc. but I see Sam’s health improving all the
time and will do whatever I have to do.

Thank you sooo much,
Mrs. Sonya Cespedes

Vaccines and Autism – January 2011

Betsy,

I did receive your first email. Thank you for your love. I think of you and Joey often and feel that you are both happy.

Betsy, whenever I tell someone about the first day I met you at a conference, I always cry. The emotions are still just as powerful for me. I remember waiting in a long line of parents to see you. By the time I got to you, I could barely talk. I had a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. I had never heard of vaccines or toxins causing or strongly contributing to autism. I had never been to a conference on autism and have only been to maybe 3 since then. When I left there, Paul and I discussed about further vaccinating our six-month old second child Zachary. We both agreed – no more vaccines. About 2 – 2/12 yrs. later, Dr. Hicks ran some titers on Zachary. He told me “You were wise not to vaccine Zachary. You would have had another case of autism.” Betsy, I have to personally thank you for your passion in that speech. I can honestly say that you saved a child from autism. The words thank you seem too simple, but I am at a loss of how to express my gratitude to you. I know of several mothers who have 2 children with autism. I now believe God knew I was too emotionally fragile to handle another child’s diagnosis. I believe he guided me to you that day. Most everything I learned about food and nutrition came from you. Those lessons on the phone were life changing. I love your book. It’s such an eye opener. Even though it’s been years, I’m still absorbing and trying to implement all of it. I was raised on the typical American diet and changing those patterns has been difficult. I was resting this morning, and I was listening to Jacob talking to Zachary in the playroom. His words and his little voice still bring awe and happiness to me. Even when he’s long grown up I will always be appreciative of his voice.

Love Always,
Tammy

Go Organic – February 2009

Hi Siobhan !!

As you requested…..here are some details to the presentation I was listened to on Saturday at the women’s retreat at the Delavan Congregational Church in Delavan, WI.

Dr. Hicks and his wife Betsy Hicks are owners of Pathways – medical & holistic health (www.pathwaysmed.com) …. 5411 Highway 50 Delavan, WI 53115. 226-740-3000 …( ext 19 for Betsy) Karen Varhula had invited me to this really neat “retreat”. Check out their website !

Dr. Hicks and his wife gave the keynote presentation. Betsy was a dynamic, invigorating, knowledgeable, articulate speaker. I wanted to take a gun to my head when she went though the list of bad stuff we are eating, breathing, and dumping into the environment. And you know me Siobhan, I am very skeptical. But I can tell you…. after listening to her….. I wanted to GO ORGANIC and dump all the chemicals we have in the house. The number of autoimmune diseases out there (lupus being one)…… that probably could have been avoided in somewhat way back when. But then….. some of the measures to detoxify our bodies, and then build back up the immune system.

I would HIGHLY recommend your friend calling Betsy and setting up a consultation. I am working very hard to convince management to invite them to speak at AptarGroup.

Let me know if you have questions. I have copied Betsy on my email to you
so that she knows who I am.

Love,

Mom (Susan McGorrian)

Behavior Improvement – December 2008

Hi Betsy,

I took this picture today of Isaac and me. He’s such a sweet boy, as I hope you can see in this picture. I remember coming to see you all in WI four years ago, and his behavior then was a nightmare. I used to worry so much that Isaac would never be able to stay in our home with us.

He is not cured of autism, but he sure is feeling better. I think this picture says it all.

Happy holidays,

Tyann Rouw

Abundant gratitude – December 2008

Betsy,

I want to share with you how grateful Beth Van de Boom has been to me. Quite frankly I wouldn’t of gotten better if I didn’t have her to direct me. She suggested for me to come get a glut shot about two weeks ago due to my symptoms. Cathie and she balanced me. Cathie is too a blessing with all her knowledge and experience. She guided me to do meditation which has helped me tremendously (in fact I feel now it is one of the keys to bring me back into a healthy balance). Dr. Hicks stopped in while I was there to do some healing work on me which was a big blessing too! He has a great gift too. Both Beth and he picked up that I have a lot of sadness so did a homeopath for me. I will spare you all the details as I had to follow-up with Beth again for some more guidance on Thursday but I really want to tell you that she is so gifted to hit on the core of my issues. I am so grateful for her and if you could give her a hug and a high 5 for me since you are her coach (employer) I would greatly appreciate it. Then have her hug you back to say thank you from me to you for you establishing Elemental Health! I also had a session with Lydia on Friday and if it wasn’t for Dr. Hicks connecting me with her (you of course meet her first in a grocery store) my healing road would not be at the depth it is today. I have so much more joy, love and light by experiencing Lydia’s gifts. Yes it is so amazing how we are all connected helping each other out…that too I am so grateful for!

I feel so so so very lucky to have and know Pathways! This is why it motivates me to tell so many folks about Pathways and Elemental Health (and Lydia too) by handing out your brochures and business cards…I am emotionally attached because of the success and abundance I have/am experiencing. No one can put a price on healing the mind, body and spirit…that is a gift unmatchable.

In abundant gratitude!

Gigantic Shift – August 2008

Betsy,
I didn’t want to postpone this info getting to you and Dr Hicks so I’m sending email. Bobbi has made a gigantic shift and I want to acknowledge Pathways for being an incredible support, guide, and information system for us. Without Dr Hicks, you and Beth and the whole team, and without my openness to it ALL, I do not believe Bobbi would be where she is today. And here’s where she is: she has lost her diagnoses. Her SLP told me on Thur that the code for Articulation Disorder and Abnormal Auditory Perception no longer apply but we will use them for insurance purposes. She also said that 1 hour a week after school of private therapy will help her develop strategies for memory and language inferences.

She is off to an amazing start at St Francis. She got all “Excellents” on her first report card and has earned all the rewards they have in place. She is making friends, or at least trying very hard.

The hardest thing she is dealing with is eating in the cafeteria. Some kids teased her and so she absolutely won’t eat anything out of her lunch box. Hopefully you can help me with this when I call on her next checkup.

I have to take some deep breaths. When I think back on the past 7 years, all I see is all of the “won’t be’s.” All of the things they told me she wouldn’t be able to do. Now, I see all that she does and who is really is. It’s too much for me to take in. All I know is you guys have been there every minute I needed you, you have always been right and I have always trusted.

Thank you, that just doesn’t seem to be enough but it is all I can say. I have a wonderful, amazing little girl. She was lost for a while but now she is back. She is back as a stronger person whom I cherish every minute with. In many ways I think that with the help of Pathways she is a stronger and whole person that she may not have been if we had taken a different path. Thank you, you helped me get her back.
I love you guys so much,

Dayna
